Busan Holds IUSSP Pre-conference

Statistics Korea announced that it will hold a pre-conference of the 27th International Population Conference of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) from August 23 to 25 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center.

Population experts around the world will participate in the pre-conference to exchange their views on a low birth rate, ageing population, census research methods, feasibility of census microdata and more.

Commissioner of the Statistics Korea Park Hyung-soo will also speak about Korea’s low birth rate and aging population under topics of longevity, aging and nuclear family.

Statistics Korea will also sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota for Integrated Public Use Microdata Series Friday. Under the MOU, Statistics Korea will provide microdata (1 percent) of population and housing census.
