The 2013 Busan International Advertising Festival (AD Stars 2013), the largest advertising event in Asia, was held for three days last week.

Celebrating the six anniversary this year, the AD Stars 2013 saw 12,079 entries, which was increased by 15.8 percent from last year. Out of 1,704 entries which advanced to the finals, 182 were awarded and 140 received special recognition.

TXTBKS by DDB DM9JaymeSyfu/Digit from Philippines won the AD Stars Grand Prix in the Public Service Advertising/Education section. From the Direct/Corporate/Institution/Industry/Etc section, Cheil Worldwid’s Bridge of Life received the AD Stars Grand Prix with USD 10,000.

TXTBKS received high scores as it provides electronic books to children recycling old mobile phones, spreading the idea of learning.

Bridge of Life was also recognized that it aims to solve the social issue of suicide.

Young Stars AD Competition saw 36 teams of 101 university students from six countries. TTAT of the Tama Art University from Japan won the first prize, and the second and third prize went to TNT (Hongik University from Korea) and 3000cc (Konkuk University from Korea) and All Black (Sangmyung University, Ewha Women’s University and Incheon University from Korea).

New Stars AD Competition, which was introduced this year for professional advertisers with less three years of experience, saw a flood of winning young Korean advertisers.

The festival also provided seminars, a special exhibition of public service advertisement around the world, a creative school and more.

AD Stars 2013 drew about 80,000 domestic and international visitors in three days.

Chairperson of the Executive Committee Lee Eui-Ja noted that the committee will focus on adding expertise by communicating with advertisers around the world and delivering various programs to help citizens to activate their creativity.
