The city will focus on promoting its beautiful tourism resources and high quality medical infrastructure to foreign visitors through an international cruise terminal and an international ferry terminal and attract high-class foreign patients through various promotion measures.

The city plans to install large promotion displays at the international cruise terminal and international ferry terminal, hold information sessions at overseas cities, operates familiarization tours, provide incentives for cruise ship operators that use Busan port, drive shuttle buses for cruise tourists from the fourth quarter of the year.

In addition, three projects of participation in major cruise convention events, dispatch of a Busan medical tourism promotion team, and operation of Busan medical tourism familiarization tours for cruise ship employees will be implemented from next year.

A Busan official noted that Busan is an entrance to Northeast Asia with a world’s 5th container port, an international cruise terminal and international ferry terminal. He added that medical tourism promotion measures will help Busan to become a hub for medical tourism and enhance Korea’s image.

The number of cruise tourists to Busan last year reached 160,000, and total 530,000 foreigners visited Busan on ferries.
