(BUSAN = Newsis) An auto parts global quality certification center will be established in Mieum research and development industrial complex in Busan.

The city announced on December 31 that it was chosen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for a “auto parts global quality certification center project”.

A total of KRW 37.1 billion, including government expenditure of KRW 19 billion, will be invested for establishment of the center in 6,600 m2 site.

The city has put a great deal of effort to develop the infrastructure to maximize the auto parts export and support finished automobile companies to obtain the certifications under the changes in global economic environment.

The center will help Busan secure the global competitiveness of technology through localization of auto part production and improvement of the auto parts export.

The center is expected to increase productivity and high added value of local auto companies by putting restrictions on auto engine efficiency and exhaust emissions.

“The center will enable Busan to provide technologies to auto parts companies in a bid to expand the supply market for such companies. The city expects the companies to lead the second technological development of the world auto market,” said an official of Busan.
