(BUSAN = Newsis) Pusan National University Hospital (PNUH) and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center (APCC) announced on January 20 that two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for joint research and held a symposium. The attendants of the MOU signing ceremony and the symposium include Jung Dae-Soo (General director of PNUH), Chung Chin-Seung (Director of the APCC) and other officials.
PNUH and the APCC agreed on exchange of relevant information and human resources, and cooperation for interdisciplinary research linking the fields of climate change and public health.
The APCC was established to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation across the APEC region to help the nations and regions deal efficiently with the consequences of current and future climate-related hazards through the development of innovative technologies and provision of climate change information.
“Climate and the medical industry are closely related,” said Jung. “We expect the MOU will help two parties conduct researches on the impact of climate change on diseases and public health to contribute to the development of the public health field and policy making process of Korea.”
