According to Yonhap News,

(BUSAN = Yonhap News) The Lotte Department Store and the city of Busan agreed to cooperate in vitalizing the Seomyeon Medical Street.

The Lotte Busan Store announced on February 3 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seomyeon Medical Street for the vitalization of the medical tourism industry and local economy and agreed to carry out various supporting projects.

The Busan branch will provide vouchers that offer up to 50 percent discount to medical tourists who visit hospitals in the Seonmyeon Medical Street.

It will also actively participate in online promotion activities in an effort to offer medical tourists more convenience when they go shopping in Korea.

Furthermore, the department store will strengthen medical marketing strategies that are aimed at medical personnel in Busan and continue its support for the Seonmyeon Medical Street Festival.

The Lotte Department Store expects that the vitalization of the Seomyeon Medical Street will lead to the development of both medical service and local tourism items, and become the new growth engine of the city’s economy.

In fact, the number of medical tourists who visited the Seomyeon Medical Street rose by 62.4 percent from 1,511 in 2012 to 2,454 in 2013, posting strong growth rates year after year.

“We will support the Seomyeon Medical Street to become a hub of the medical tourism industry by actively cooperating in promotion of the city’s medical tourism industry,” said an official of the Lotte Department Store Busan.
