(BUSAN = Newsis) The Busan Port Authority (BPA) steps up efforts to promote the city of Busan in the United States.

The BPA announced on March 9 that it will participate in the “2014 Cruise Shipping Miami,” the largest international exhibition and conference in the world that serves the cruise industry, between March 10 and 12.

The BPA seeks to promote the “Seatrade Cruise Korea, Busan,” the largest cruise exhibition in Asia, to industry leaders from around the world. The “Seatrade Cruise Korea, Busan” will take place in Busan on June 11.

The BPA will also hold an information session with the city of Busan, Korea Trade Organization and Seatrade, the British company who will organize the “Seatrade Cruise Korea, Busan”, at the Miami Convention Center on March 12, and invite the local press to promote the cruise event and the Busan Port.

During the press conference, the president of the BPA Lim Ki-tack will present “Busan Port’s Strategies to Develop the Cruise Industry” to introduce the national status and growth potential of the Busan Port.

The BPA also plans to set up a promotion booth in Miami to promote Busan’s cruise industry.

The BPA team will visit the headquarters of the world’s second largest cruise company Royal Caribbean International and Princess Cruise, and carry out promotion activities to the companies’ business leaders in a bid to attract the cruise businesses in Busan.

“The BPA will do its best work to attract more cruise ships and tourists, and contribute to the activation of the local economy,” said Lim.

Meanwhile, the Busan Port attracted a total of 99 cruise ships last year, and it is expected to attract 134 ships and 250,000 cruise tourists this year.
