(BUSAN = Newsis) “International Nuclear Energy Korea 2014” is being held at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) from yesterday to April 18.

A total of 71 domestic businesses and nine foreign businesses will participate in Nuclear Energy Korea 2014. The event is hosted by the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) and will set up about 230 booths.

Companies including Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) and Westinghouse as well as 100 high level officials and buyers from countries like Vietnam and Saudi Arabia will participate in the event. As these countries are the potential nuclear export markets for Korea, such participation may help the businesses expand their overseas markets.

This year, the event will focus on increasing transparency of supply chain and supporting improvements of nuclear businesses’ technological capabilities.

To discover and foster nuclear reactor materials manufacturers with technological competencies, the KAIF and KHNP will hold the exhibition which displays 50 nuclear reactor materials that are supplied to the KHNP under negotiated contracts. The KAIF and KHNP plan to use 22 booths for the exhibition.

Meanwhile, the KAIF and Korean Nuclear Society (KNS) are holding the 29th Korea nuclear annual convention from yesterday to discuss sustainable competitiveness and future direction in the nuclear industry development.

Attendants to the convention includes the members of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and policymakers, scholars and industrial experts from the United States, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Canada, France and more. The attendants are actively exchanging information and opinions about the Korea’s nuclear energy industry.

The attendants to the 29th Korea nuclear annual convention are also expected to visit the International Energy Korea 2014. This will provide the businesses with opportunities to expand new markets and buyers will be able to find new attractive vendors.
