(BUSAN=Yonhap News) Busan City Gas announced on April 28 that it will invest KRW 90.3 billion in Myongji International City, located in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone, to accelerate its mass energy business.

The U.S.-based carmaker invested KRW 40 billion in the center, doubling its size from 7,640 ㎡ to 16,640㎡, making it GM’s third-largest global design center. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide 200 designers and modelers with support for digital modeling, studio engineering and exterior and interior auto design.

Busan City Gas plans to provide an eco-friendly heating system and mass energy facilities for the international city at comparatively low prices.

The construction of mass energy facilities in Myongji is expected to begin in July and be completed in August of 2016, when operations will begin at Myongji International City, now under construction.
