(BUSAN=NEWSIS) Busan Contents Market (BCM) 2014, the biggest broadcasting contents market in Asia, kicks off its four-day run at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) on May 15.

With diverse media rights and various platforms at one place, this year’s BMC will welcome participants. Detailed programs are as follows. ▲TV Market, Biz Matching, Cultural Contents Investment Fund Briefing Session, BCM Pitching ▲ BCM Academy, Policy seminar on UHD TV, Broadcasting Mobile Contents Policy Seminar and Asian Next-Generation TV Contents Seminar and BCM Forum ▲ BCM Plaza (Various infield experience programs) ▲ Opening ceremony and other official events ▲ BCM honorary ambassador Nam Gyu-ri’s fan sign meeting.

For the BCM 2014, 1,170 participants including both buyers and sellers of 509 companies from 46 countries pre-registered the event.

In the BCM Market, various contents such as dramas, documentary films and animated films will be traded. Aside from TV Market, Biz Matching will be run during the event, in which investors and production personnel are expected to gather and have a consulting session.

The Biz Matching will eventually help both investors and productions see the actual outcome.

Especially, ceremonies for two investment agreements will take place at Exhibition Hall 1 from 17:30 on May 15 in cooperation with Korea Contents Association and Advisory Board for Investment. Cultural Contents Investment Fund Briefing Session will also be held at Conference Room No. 214 on May 16, beginning 13:30.

In the BCM Forum, students from 20 colleges and universities nationwide will participate in BCM Academy, where producers from public TV networks and cable networks will give lectures to the students about on-site practices. Policy seminar on UHD TV and Asian Next-Generation TV Contents Seminar are to take place during the international event.

BCM Plaza will introduce new media contents including experience programs to general audience on the occasion of May, Family Month. Audiences can have access to filming sites of Impressive Period (Gamgyuk Sidae in Korean) and Gag Concert and enter All That TV Zone, Experience Booth for Robots which features a 6-meter robot. Furthermore, Character Animation Zone and Kid’s Land will welcome children with a variety of exhibitions and experience zones, where kids can enjoy and have fun with main characters of animated films such as Robocar Poli. The two zones for kids are offered free at Exhibition Hall 2 during the BCM.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at Exhibition Hall 1 in BEXCO on May 15 from 17:00. Hur Nam-sik, the chairman of Busan Contents Market Organizing Committee and the mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, celebrities, at home and abroad, including Nam Gyu-ri are expected to attend the ceremony.
