(BUSAN=Yonhap News)South Korea's small and medium-sized firms are set to roll out state-of-the-art information technologies at the World IT Show (WIS) 2014 to be held on the first week of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) gathering, industry sources said Sunday.
The WIS 2014, set to run from Monday to Thursday, will be South Korea's largest ICT-related exhibition with technology showcases from some 420 local and foreign firms. It will be held along the 19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, referred to as PP-14, which takes place from Oct. 20 to Nov. 7, in Busan, South Korea's largest port city.
While tech big-names, such as Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. are set to boast their latest ICT achievements at the show, the Korea Association for ICT Promotion said small-and-medium firms are also set to roll out a handful of innovative devices to amuse visitors.
NeoLAB Convergence will display "N2 Smartpen," which can transform written records into digital content, along with "3DHolic," a portable 3D glass that can be connected with smartphones. Drone Fighter, a toy helicopter equipped with an HD-level camera, will also be showcased.
Aura will introduce a healthcare application that can be used to track physical changes of children growing, providing them with exercise and nutrition tips.
Innopia Technologies Inc. will display a portable High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) stick that allows users to use smart features via TV, monitors or projectors.
Held every four years, the ITU gathering will greet some 3,000 government delegates from around 170 countries. Some 300,000 visitors are also expected at the ITU meeting and its sideline events.
The ITU is an information and communications arm of the U.N. that sets technological standards, allocates radio frequencies and satellite orbits and works to improve the quality of communication services.
