(BUSAN=NEWSIS) Busan City announced February 7 that it has selected the Donggu Chinatown Festival as its best festival.

In order to promote its regional economy and tourism industry, Busan designates festivals that show the unique characteristics of the city and provides support for them.

The committee for the Busan festivals has chosen 11 festivals, which will receive support funds from KRW 20 million to 50 million.

“The Donggu Chinatown Festival is a tailored festival for Chinese tourists by providing activities including cultural experience programs. It has been selected as the best festival of the city based on its high growth potential,” said a city official.

The Donggu Chinatown Festival, which will be the 12th one in 2015, has received KRW 15 million in 2014 as it was chosen as a promising festival.
