According to Yonhap News,
(BUSAN=Yonhap News) The Busan Export Business Association, comprised of small and medium businesses in the Busan region, has set as its annual export goal at USD 15bn.
Last year, affected by restructuring in the shipbuilding industry and the Hanjin Shipping crisis, exports by businesses in the Busan region are estimated to have amounted to USD 11.7bn.
While uncertainty in the state of domestic and foreign affairs may discourage business activity, the region is determined to overcome the predicament through exports.
Recently, the Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) in Busan has held workshops with the Busan Export Business
Association, and introduced various support measures to achieve the proposed goal.
The SMBA has decided to assign an official to be exclusively in charge of export businesses, providing information on government policies to support exports and assisting necessary administrative procedures.
In addition. the SMBA will actively help local export firms open new markets in many ways, including by holding consultation sessions for export firms.
Founded in 2007, the Busan Export Business Association is a private organization supported by the SMBA in Busan to promote networking between businesses, and facilitate domestic and foreign publicity campaigns.
