According to Newsis News,

(BUSAN=Newsis News) On May 2, Busan Development Institute released findings of a research conducted on policies to promote the marine sports industry based on consumer demand.

According to the report, a survey conducted on a total of 628 marine sports consumers over the age of 20 (409 Busan residents, 219 from outside the city) said the professionalism of instructors, good service, marine environment, and water quality were the most important factors in deciding their marine sports destination.

Other factors included program safety, and the cost of receiving lessons and using the facilities.

Water skiing turned out to be the most popular marine sport among potential consumers, followed by windsurfing, water scooters, motorboats, and sailing yachts.

Recognizing the marine sports industry as a future source of high added value, the national government has been building a multilevel support system, in addition to Busan's own efforts to transform itself into a mecca for marine sports.
