(BUSAN=Yonhap News) An annual festival of broadcasting and video content businesses, the 11th International Busan Contents Market (BCM) has kicked off on May 10 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae-gu.

At this year's event, some 2,500 buyers and sellers from 45 countries will participate in the B2B Market from May 10 to 12, while a separate B2C market, Market+, will be open to individual consumers from May 10 to 14.



Starting with a BIZ Matching session that enables one-on-one meetings between cultural content producers and domestic and global market consultants at 10a.m. on opening day, various programs and events are set to follow, including BCM Global Pitching, info sessions on cultural content fund investment plans and crowdfunding, BCM Forum (next-generation Asian TV content forum and seminar), the BCM Academy, and the Asia Documentary Awards.

In consideration of the negative effect of the THAAD system deployment on the Chinese market, BCM2017 has decided to shift its focus from merely selling Korean content to China to creating opportunities for Korean businesses to purchase foreign content.

The China Television Drama Industry Association is also scheduled to participate as a seller, organizing a press conference for 'Aguila Team: Anti-Terrorism Special Forces 2,' a television series currently being produced in China.

At Market+, the general public can get a chance to view new releases in the cultural content industry, as well as experience content that utilizes convergence technology.

A total of 165 booth have been set up, and are now ready to greet visitors with content that incorporates the latest trends in convergence technology (e.g., drones, virtual reality, 3D-printing, robotics) that will make up the 4th industrial revolution.
