(BUSAN=Yonhap News) Busan Port Authority revealed Korea's largest low-temperature distribution center by Dongwon Loex at the Ungdong Industrial Complex in Busan New Port will open on April 12.
Dongwon Loex is a joint venture that was established in July 2015, with investments from Dongwon Industries (85%) and American company Silver Bay Seafood (15%). They started building the low-temperature distribution center at the start of 2016, and completed construction last September. The center is set to open in April after the completion of various administrative procedures.
Busan New Port's 7-story low-temperature distribution center is the largest in the nation with a total area of 53,300㎡.
It has a maximum capacity of 61,000t.
The center also has the ability to hold products at various temperatures ranging from minus 55 to 15 degrees as well as an automated system for fast and accurate flow of goods.
Dongwon Loex takes Tuna and Salmon from overseas, sorts and stores the fish before exporting it overseas.
