Busan city announced on September 11 that it will host the Fifth Busan Financial Forum at Kamcomaru Hall, Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) from September 12, with 200 domestic and overseas financial experts in attendance.
The Forum will start with the keynote speech by Professor Bob Webb from the University of Virginia on the prospects of Korean stock market and will discuss on developing a global financial center that specializes in derivatives and maritime finance for Busan and strategies for the paradigm shift in the financial industry.
Kim Byung-duck and Gu Bon-Sung, the senior researchers of the Korea Institute of Finance will give speeches on the development policies to become a global financial center and present overseas cases. Lee Jang-woo, the dean of Pusan National University Graduate School of Finance and Lee Ki-Hwan, the dean of the Korea Maritime and Ocean University Graduate School of Maritime Finance will give speeches on the essentials to the success of financial market.
"The Global Financial Forum is a forum of wisdom where experts identify policies and business models to make Busan a global financial center," said Yoo Jae-soo, the vice mayor for Economic Affairs, Busan Metropolitan City, adding, "In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, I hope the Forum serves as an inflection point for Busan to take a leap forward."
