Busan's Medical Institutions to Expand to Overseas Market

(BUSAN=Yonhap News) Medical institutions in Busan are fast expanding businesses to overseas market.

Busan City announced on October 2 that it will open Pusan National University Hospital Telemedicine Center in Kazah National University Hospital in Almaty on October 4.

Busan City has been providing supports since 2015 to revitalize medical tourism by telling the world the excellent medical technology of Busan, and to help medical institutions enter overseas market to occupy global healthcare industry.

The City is expecting that once Busan's medical institutions start operating the centers in key foreign cities, medical technology exchanges and training foreign doctors will be revitalized and Busan's medical tourism will be promoted as well.

Busan aims to promote overseas expansion of medical institutions to 25 by 2022.

"The overseas expansion of medical institutions will enable us to build network with local hospitals in other countries and establish a brand of Busan Medicine providing the platform to enter global medical market," said a City Official. "We will actively provide assistance to local medical institutions for overseas expansion by utilizing government's supporting projects including the special medical technology reinforcement projects of the Ministry of Health and Welfare."
