According to Yonhap News,

(BUSAN=Yonhap News) Busan will cooperate with Korean Air to foster drone industry.

Busan and Korean Air announced that they will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the "Mutual Cooperation of Drone Industry Development" at the Korean Air's Tech Center in Busan, at 10:30am on December 19.

Drone industry is a high-tech convergence industry that deals with aviation, Internet of Things(IoT), ICT(information, communication and technology), software and sensors.

The city has pushed for the MOU, considering the growth potential of UAV manufacturing and utilization such as drones and the possibility of it developing into a new growth engine.

Under the agreement, Korean Air will build an industrial ecosystem and cooperate in job creation through development of drone-related technologies and cultivation of specialized companies in drones.

In addition, Korean Air will develop and supply drones tailored to conditions of Busan, search for public demand for drones, and cultivate specialized companies in drones.

Busan will work with Korean Air to develop policies and provide administrative support for fostering the drone industry.

A city official said, "With this agreement, we want to make the drone industry a leading industry of Busan, by finding professional companies for the development of drones, developing technologies, creating demands and creating jobs." The official also stated, "We will make Busan the leading city with technologies of the fourth industrial revolution."
