(BUSAN=Yonhap News) "Busan Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center", which will be in charge of spreading smart factories in Busan, was opened on March 4.
Busan city and Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) held a "Busan Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center" signboard hanging ceremony at Busan Techno Park on March 4.
The Center comes in a R&D type, implemented for the first time in the country by Busan city and MSS for smart manufacturing innovation of SMEs.
The Center will create customized test-beds to enable SMEs build smart factory at low cost, while supporting establishment of manufacturing innovation strategy, R&D and nurturing human resources.
MSS vice minister, participating at the ceremony, said, "The government reflected KRW 1.5 billion budget to enable Busan city to establish a smart manufacturing innovation center," adding that "the industry, academia and research sectors must come together in building test beds to help companies."
Busan city initiated the expansion of smart factory since 2015 for manufacturing innovation of regional SMEs, and built 405 smart factories as of late 2018.
