Centum City and Seokdae Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex in Busan will be fostered as a center of smart logistics industry.
On April 26, Busan city announced that it had been selected as a steering local government for the SW Convergence Cluster 2.0 program, advertised by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This project will be proceeded as a follow-up project of SW Convergence Cluster, which Busan city established in Centum City and Seokdae Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex during 2014-2018.
The city will invest KRW 12.4 billion starting from this year to foster the experience-based smart logistical industry by 2023.
Main projects will include establishment of smart logistics business platform, technology development and commercialization, fostering of entry-level enterprises and talent, and creation of innovation network connecting industry, academia, research, and government.
The project to establish smart logistics business platform is to support the collection, analysis, and processing of public and private data related with logistics to help companies freely share and utilize data.
The project to develop and commercialize technology is to identify technologies related with smart logistics and support development and overseas expansion of promising projects.
The city plans to foster the entry-level enterprises in the smart logistics sector to create jobs and facilitate cooperation and technology exchanges.
A city official said, "By setting up SW convergence cluster in the past five years, we could achieve social and economic added values, such as 7,100 jobs creation, 1,100 companies attracted, and KRW 500 billion increase in revenue," adding that "we will foster the smart logistics industry here, setting the model of next-generation growth."
