Busan city and Amazon Web Service, the world's leading clouding enterprise, signed MOU on creation of smart city and cultivation of startups at Busan Cloud Innovation Center on July 25.
This MOU is to strengthen cooperation in addition to the MOU the city and AWS signed on fostering the cloud industry in 2016.
With the agreement, the city and AWS will step up cooperation on smart city ideas in resolving city problems such as transportation, public security, health care, logistics, and environment over the next five years.
The operation of Busan Cloud Innovation Center will be expanded, while more support is to be given for cultivation of cloud-based startup.
Other programs planned include training to foster experts in cloud, and internship program for university students in Busan.
The Busan Cloud Innovation Center located in Centum City runs programs to discover and foster promising startups, technology consulting on cloud infrastructure, and specialized education.
Busan Information Promotion Agency operates the Center, while AWS is responsible for programs.
The Center has provided consulting on cloud business to 186 companies in the region in the past three years, training 800 specialists.
It also selected 65 startups as members of the center up to date, supporting their growth.
Musma, a provider of crane collision prevention system utilizing IoT, is the exemplary enterprise which converted to Amazon Web Service Cloud through support of the Center.
Peter Moore, Regional Managing Director for Amazon Web Services, Global Public Sector - APAC and Japan, told that "We will help more and more startups establish business through Amazon Web Services through a new level of cooperative system with Busan Cloud Innovation Center."
