According to Yonhap News,
To get fully gear up for the upcoming 4th industrial revolution, Busan city declared its development plan focusing primarily on digital dental medicine, known as the next source of income for the community.
Busan city and Busan Economic Promotion Agency announced on Mar. 9 the launch of a project “2020 support program for digital dental medicine”, which aims to foster future capable talents in the industry, training them on using digital technology. The city of Busan is well known for its high market penetration rate of digital dental medicine, which makes it the best place to develop the business in Korea with the second largest number of people working in the industry following Seoul.
Osstem Implant, Dio and several other prominent businesses producing oral care products and dental equipment are headquartered or running R&D centers or production lines in Busan city, also home to a dozen of accredited dental schools (school of dentistry & oral health, college of dental medicine). The well designed infrastructure helps the city secure competitive advantage. The program to be pushed on this time is mainly targeting healthcare service providers in practice or those to be (such as college students or junior doctors). They’ll go through an academic course from the 2nd to 4th quarter to learn about 3D intraoral scanner, software, clinical trials.
The local authorities and BEPA run a public ad to select agencies to be mandated to cover the project until Mar. 20.
