According to Yonhap News,

Innopolis Busan Office said on Oct 15 that they signed a technology transfer agreement with Korea Maritime & Ocean University, Jeil E&S and Prione Korea to build up a local research center.

Under such shared agreement, Korea Maritime & Ocean University and Jeil E&S will establish a research group to become the licensee sharing technologies worth KRW 3billion over the next five years.

The purpose of this agreement is to promote the domestic production of products that are highly dependent on imports through the transfer of carbon nanomaterial technology, closely associated with rechargeable batteries.

The material used for the storage battery is gaining attention as a growth driver of the industry, on the back of the growth of the environment-friendly mobility field centered on electric vehicles, which is one of the major technologies in the power storage equipment industry.

Jeil E&S,an unvulcanized Rubber products maker, specializing in rubber compound engineering participated in this agreement to lay foundation for entering the secondary battery materials business.

With another KRW 10 billion, they’re planning to push for partnersing with Korea Maritime & Ocean University to further advance and diversify product lines artificial graphite and Rechargeable seawater batteries (SWBs).
