According to Yonhap News,
The city of Busan said on Dec 4 that the local authority recently hosted the final briefing session of a study commissioned by outsourced analysts to set up a mid to long term development strategy of the local textile/fashion industry. The study result said a sustainable growth requires advances in technology in high performance textiles and their applications, securing cross-sectoral source technologies to be commercially applicable and R&D over greener production technologies.
The strategy focuses primarily on three main targets- laying foundations for the innovative growth, which ultimately fuels shared growth in both ICT and fashion industry, creating added-value and entrepreneurial spirit to add more jobs. Under such goals, the city will pick business categories to be invested in and foster home-grown brands as part of future growth drivers. They also facilitates local business hubs that link separate segments of fashion business. The formation of the city apparel cluster will be pushed ahead, either.
To help the industry ahead of the competition, the authority puts greater emphasis on developing contact-free digital transaction, alongside manufacturing robot technologies and industry credential especially recognized for new products.
