Busan city ready to host 45th COSPAR

The world’s most influential and authoritative international conference on astronomy and space physics will be held in Busan city in 2024. The 43rd COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) scientific assembly hosted in Sydney, Australia recently appointed Busan city the next conference venue to have the 45th event, the city said on Feb 4.

COSPAR is the International Council for Scientific Unions (ICSU)’s affiliate working in cooperation with a few scientific organizations worldwide. Being part of its members, The Korean Academy of Science and Technology has joined the interdisciplinary scientific body. Nearly 9,000 scientists and representatives of 44 member countries are currently registered as members of the club. The city of Busan was selected as the finalist in Korea, a prime candidate for hosting the next round of conference, since the city has started to work for the candidacy in 2019. From then on, Busan city has got into its stride, forming a TF to produce video ads and promotional films to become the COSPAR host in 2025.

The 45th COSPAR is scheduled to be held on Jul 13-21, 2024 at Bexco, Busan city, under the theme of “Space Research with COSPAR” for nine days. At the presence of 3,500 guests from 60 countries across the world, the biennial space conference will consist of keynote sessions, followed by symposia, a variety of research paper presentations and extra events open to all attendees.
