According to Yonhap News,

Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) has picked out 47 travel agencies and startups at the 2021 startup challenge competition, co-hosted by its sponsors including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), said city official on May 17. The nominees selected this time include early stage startups, entrepreneurs who’ve just got off the ground to scale up and travel agencies in the communities.

The majority of the selectees are reported to be those well aware of the latest market trends, presented by smart ICT technologies in the tourism industry. Those who’ve developed travel packages or products to improve customer experience have put their names on the list. What’s worth noticing is more than 50% of the 47 candidates are the young entrepreneurs aged under 39.

BTO is planning to give support to up to 120 startups and travel agencies in total, selected since last the year 2019, under the sponsorship of Tourism Business Support Center. Potential candidates are allowed to take part in a variety of services to boost business; from sharing tips to start business in the tourism industry, customized consulting programs to set up marketing and sales strategies to internship programs etc.
