Pusan National University, Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), and Hyundai Heavy Industries Engine & Machinery Division signed an MOU for 'Green Hydrogen Production and Eco-Friendly Technology Joint Development' on September 6.
Participating organizations plan to jointly develop key technologies in the fields of green hydrogen production, engines for eco-friendly ships, cryogenic equipment, localization of sensors and engine control software, and nurture excellent researchers.
Pusan National University plans to develop original technology of high-efficiency and low-cost catalyst that surpasses Europe based on electrode catalyst technology, which is the core technology of the water electrolysis system.
Hyundai Heavy Industries Group announced its plan to establish a hydrogen value chain by 2030, and the Engine&Machinery Division is to lead the demonstration and commercialization of the MW-grade green hydrogen production system.
The KIMS will be responsible for commercialization technology and demonstration based on the developed electrode catalyst.
