The initiative to develop a station exclusively for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in Busan Port is set to go forward.
The Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on October 12 that its project to 'develop an unmanned aerial vehicles station based on robot automation for the management of port facilities', it put forward jointly for 'Purchase conditional new product development joint investment project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) had been selected.
The station for unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with a cover and landing pad will be designed to be capable of remotely inducing landing and taking off of drones and automatically changing, inspecting, and charging batteries.
It will be also capable of sending photos and videos of port facilities taken by drones into the BPA server.
The BPA plans to build each one for the Busan North Port and the New Port.
Of the project cost KRW 810 million, the MSS and the BPA will jointly invest KRW 720 million.
