Continued inquiries from companies regarding move-in to Busan Data Center complex

A series of inquiries are received from companies regarding the occupancy at the data center cluster, which the Busan-si is to build in Eco Delta City in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

The city announced on April 7 that eight companies from home and abroad, including Ernst & Young in the UK, Digital Edge in Singapore, and Salim Group in Indonesia, are exploring the possibility of moving into the Eco Delta City data center cluster of about 177,000 square meters.

In response, the city is contemplating the method of selecting occupant companies and detailed condition of contract.

A city official said, "Domestic and foreign companies are showing a great interest as the data center in the metropolitan has been saturated and the locational condition of Busan is so good."

The construction of the cluster is expected to start in earnest next year after going through such procedures as changing the plan for district unit and selecting occupant companies.

The city signed an MOU with the Korea Data Center Council and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency on April 7 for establishment of an organic cooperative system.

They will jointly work for attracting data center companies, developing eco-friendly data center construction technologies, and nurturing experts in data center operation.

Based on the experience of building the Mieum Industrial Complex Cloud Data Center pilot complex in Gangseo-gu, Busan in 2012, which was the first in Korea, the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency will support attracting domestic and foreign companies and revitalizing the industries related with data center.
