According to Newsis,
Busan-si announced on April 19 that it would establish a joint trade support model with KOTRA for the first time among local governments to support local SMEs in entering the ASEAN online market.
In order to support local SMEs, whose exports have plummeted due to the prolonged COVID-19 and the global economic downturn, Busan-si has been discussing ways to shore up the exports of local companies with KOTRA since last year. By linking with the regional power nurturing project, a project by the government, the city will support expansion to ASEAN online market to open up new export markets.
This support project is pushed for through a cooperative model between Busan-si, KOTRA, and Shopee, utilizing the strengths of the local platform.
Shopee is currently the No. 1 globa platform in Southeast Asia, showing the fastest sales growth in Southeast Asia, and will support Busan companies' entry to ASEAN online market.
Through this project, Busan-si will provide various support, from opening stores to settlement, to around 100 local companies, including ▲ training and consulting for opening stores ▲ support for entering a platform, ▲ support for logistics costs, ▲ individual PR marketing, ▲ holding a large-scale special exhibition for Busan, ▲ off-line shopping mall promotion exhibition, and ▲ holding an export business meeting, among others.
Those who want to participate in the project can submit application at the 'Busan-si integrated system for overseas marketing' by May, 2.
