According to Yonhap News,

The UN-HABITAT (Human Settlement Program) Korean Committee announced on June 7 that it had signed an MOU with Oceanix, based in New York, and agreed to cooperate for Oceanix Busan-the world's first floating city.

Oceanix Busan, promoted by Busan-si, Oceanix and Habitat, unveiled its design for the first time at the Habitat Roundtable held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in April.

The plan is to create a sustainable floating city that can accommodate 12,000 people by designing three floating platforms connected to land via bridges, on a total area of 6.3 hectares.

Oceanix also agreed to collaborate for a sustainable city model in Korea by such ways as participating in the Korea Urban Forum (KUF) to be held at the end of October.

The signing ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Habitat Korean National Committee and Oceanix Chairman Itai Madammbe, who was visiting Korea.
