According to Yonhap News,

Busan sets off on its journey to turn itself to a global coffee city with an inauguration ceremony of 'Coffee City Busan Forum'.

According to Busan, the ceremony will take place on Apr. 10, in Momos Roastery & Coffee Bar in Youngdo-gu, Busan.

The forum consists of 100 members of coffee related associations, businesses, universities, labs and state institutions, aiming to build cooperative channels for seeking to support the regional coffee market and come up with various supportive policies.

The organizing committee of Coffee City Busan is co-chaired by Mayor of Busan Park Heong-joon, Chairman of Busan Metropolitan Council Ahn Sung-min, President Busan Daily News Kim Jin-soo, and its secretariat is operated by Busan Techno Park.

The inauguration ceremony will begin with an opening remark made by Mayor Park, followed by a declaration of cooperation for promoting Coffee City Busan Forum, coffee talk concerts, and a lecture delivered by 2022 World Cup Tasters Champion Moon Heon-gwan.

As of last year, Busan, as a logistic hub, took up 92.5% of coffee import in Korea.

It is also the first Korean city that has a champion of World Barista Championship and a number of winners of World Coffee Championships.
