According to Yonhap News,

Busan city makes all-out efforts to be the city of the semiconductor cluster specialized in materials, parts, and equipment.

As part of its efforts, Busan Deputy Mayor Lee Seong-gwon will make a presentation in a session of local governments' project pitching to win the bid to build the chip cluster, which was hosted by the MOTIE in Seoul on June 1.

He will elaborate hard works and achievements Busan has made to foster the semiconductor industry and emphasize that Busan is the most optimal place to have the semiconductor cluster specialized in materials, parts, and equipment for chips given its comprehensive and high quality living conditions, and transportation infrastructures, including world-class transshipment ports, an international airport, railways.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon wil also pitch in, showing his determination to "mobilize all the resources to enhance the chances of Busan becoming the city of the specialized chip cluster to lead Korea's future industries" in his video massage.

The Motie is currently carrying out a bid evaluation process to select a city to construct the specialized cluster of materials, parts, and equipment for semiconductors and Busan already applied for it.

Busan already has implemented a 'project to foster an industrial cluster on power semiconductor' since 2017 by building Power Semiconductor Commercialization Center in the Southeast Area Radiation Medical Science General Industrial Complex located in Gijang-gun, integrated manufacturing lines to fabricate SiC power semiconductors, and introducing an accreditation framework for credibility evaluation processes.
