According to Yonhap News,

A data center complex will be created in the area of Eco Delta City (EDC) located in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

On July 19, the Busan metropolitan government revealed its plan to build the data center complex on about 177,000 ㎡ of land, designated as business zone, in EDC and announced that it will accept applications from corporations hoping to move in the complex until August 31.

The city will hold a briefing session to explain this project to applicants on July 28 and, after reviewing them, it will select those who are granted priority in terms of selling plots of land in EDC and summit the list to K-water.

K-water, then, will complete all the process of making property contracts with the potential tenants by October.

Back in 2021, Busan city signed an MOU with K-water to designate 160,000 square meters of land in EDC to turn it into a corporate tenant zone, and the area was divided into 3 districts according to its zoning planning: ICT convergence complex; Data center complex; strategical industry complex.

Busan is in a favorable position to have a data center complex, as 90% of submarine internet cable running from the Korean peninsula to foreign countries is installed in this city and Gori Nuclear Power Plant, a reliable source of electricity, is located adjacent to it.
