According to Yonhap News,
Hanwha Power System will establish a ship solution business center in Busan.
Busan-si announced that it would sign a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Hanwha Power System to establish a ship solution business center on August 2 at Busan City Hall.
Busan's Mayor and Hanwha Power System CEO will sign the MOU.
Hanwha Power System plans to invest KRW 3.6 billion in the knowledge industry center in Haeundae-gu and Dong-gu in Busan by 2026, establishing a ship solution business center and hire more than 200 personnel for ship design and R&D.
It is expected to provide one-stop services concerning ship operation, such as ship maintenance and repair and ship retrofitting projects, and establish a cooperative network with local ship repair and shipbuilding equipment providers.
With Hanwha Group's recent acquisition of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (currently Hanwha Ocean), Hanwha Power System is expanding its business area to ship solution services, encompassing affiliates and external customers.
Prior to this MOU, Busan-si also attracted investment for R&D Center of Samsung Heavy Industries in Busan in June.
