According to Yonhap News,
The Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on August 4 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on logistics connection cooperation with Ishikawa Prefecture, a port authority of Kanazawa Port in Japan, at the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal on August 3.
Kanazawa Port, located on the west coast of Honshu, Japan, is geographically close to Busan Port. Thus, there are eight Busan routes per week in operation.
BPA and Kanazawa Port have maintained cooperative relations to revitalize routes and increase cargo volume.
Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture explained the current status at the "Joint Seminar to Promote the Usage of Busan-Kanazawa Port" held following the MOU signing ceremony. And the delegation of 25 members including local lawmakers displayed strong willingness for cooperation with Busan Port.
"Japan is the second-largest market in terms of transshipment volume at Busan Port. Furthermore, 17.92 million TEUs, or about 10% of Japan's total import and export cargo, is transshiped at Busan Port," said BPA's CEO, adding that "we will do our best to attract more cargo volumes through enhanced cooperation with Japan's regional ports."
