The Busan Content Market (BCM), a broadcasting and content market where various genres of content, including broadcasting, animation, webtoons, and games, from around the world are traded, kicked off on May 22.
This year's BCM takes place at BEXCO from May 22 to 24 under the theme of 'Busan, Global Content Hub'.
It is organized by the Busan Content Market Organizing Committee and sponsored by the city of Busan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The event will be participated by about 700 companies, and more than 2,000 buyers and sellers.
Since its inception in 2007, the BCM has served as a market for broadcasting and content where various genres such as broadcasting, animation, webtoons, games, and creators are traded, and a gateway to promote K-Content, on the back of the K-wave culture, on the global stage.
This year's BCM will feature the agreements to boost exchange with East Europe, Africa, and Middle East, international joint investment agreements, conferences focused on IP (Intellectual Property Rights) of broadcasting and webtoons and AI (artificial intelligence), and the BCM OTT Drama Awards.
Notable partnerships include an agreement with Vanja HOVAN, an organizer of Serbia's Novi Sad Film Festival and discussions on advancing K-content in African countries including South Africa and Nigeria.
The BCM will provide investment opportunities in various content areas including webtoons and the metaverse through business matching with about 30 startup investment companies.
This year's event will consist of Eastern Europe, Africa, and Middle East exchange agreements, investment advisory group operators, international joint investment agreements, broadcasting and webtoon intellectual property rights (IP), artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet video service (OTT) drama awards.
