According to Yonhap News,

The number of foreign tourists visiting Busan is expected to exceed 2.9 million this year.

According to the Busan Tourism Organization on December 20, the number of foreign tourists is expected to be more than 2.9 million this year, far exceeding the target of 2.13 million, which was set at the beginning of the year.

It is estimated that more than 2.68 million (2019) foreigners visited, which was recorded just before COVID-19.

The year when the most foreign tourists visited Busan in history was 2016, with the number reaching 2.96 million.

This year, it is expected to reach slightly less or equivalent to the number of 2016 .

An official from the BTO said, "After COVID-19, the number of tourists in Jeju, Incheon, and the metropolitan area decreased compared to 2019. By contrast, it increased only in the Busan Bay area," adding, "We have made a lot of tour products through overseas marketing while working on the international tourism city project for five years. It seems such efforts have paid off as Busan's awareness has increased."

The BTO expects the era of 3 million foreign tourists to open for the first time next year.

The number of cruise tourists through Busan Port is also expected to increase compared to 2024.

This year, there have been 165 to 170 cruises, but next year there are already 203 cruises scheduled.
