According to Yonhap News,

An exhibition to share the latest technologies and innovations related to smart cities will be held in Busan in July this year.

On January 2, Busan-si and BEXCO announced that they have been selected for the "2025 World Smart City Expo Host City" contest, organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

The "World Smart City Expo" is Asia's largest smart city exhibition jointly held by the MOLIT and the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) since 2017, and has been held every year at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Last year, 330 companies from 70 countries participated and 39,000 people attended.

Since October 30 last year, the city has participated in the contest by establishing a cooperative system with its partner organizations including BEXCO, the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, and the Busan Tourism Organization.

The city suggested a strategy to the MOLIT that it will maximize synergy by hosting the Expo together with "K-ICT WEEK in Busan", which integrates artificial intelligence, information and communication technology (ICT) and cloud exhibitions, and there are only two national pilot cities, which are Busan and Sejong, for smart city.

With the selection for this contest, the "2025 World Smart City Expo" will be held in BEXCO from July 15 to 17.
