According to Yonhap News,

There is growing anticipation for the revitalization of the local economy as advanced industrial complexes and multi-purpose business facilities are set to be developed in Haeundae, Busan.

Busan-si announced that in September of last year, it approved the building permit for a business facility to be constructed on the former Homeplus site in Marine City, Haeundae District.

The complex, covering an area of approximately 333,499 square meters, will consist of two buildings with 8 underground floors and a maximum of 51 above-ground floors, housing office facilities, retail spaces, and neighborhood service facilities.

With such a new multi-purpose business facility joining the skyline of Marine City, which is already dotted with high-rise residential and commercial buildings, the area's function as a self-sustaining city combining residential, commercial, and business activities is expected to be further enhanced.

In September last year, the Busan Metropolitan Corporation selected a construction company for Phase 1 of the Centum 2 District urban high-tech industrial complex development project.

Located in the Ban-yeo, Ban-song, and Seok-dae districts of Haeundae, the Centum 2 District on the 1.91 million square meter site will have a total project cost of KRW 2.411 trillion.

The city plans to attract businesses focused on advanced industries such as information and communication technology (ICT), knowledge services, film and video content, advanced marine industries, and convergence components and materials industries, aiming to develop it into a "Busan-style Pangyo Techno Valley."

The project is expected to gain momentum with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designating the Centum 2 District as an Urban Convergence Special Zone in November last year.

In the former Hanjin CY site in Jaesong-dong, Haeundae, a 25-story "Unicorn Tower" is set to be built, which will house startups in advanced industries such as AI and others advanced, as well as venture capital firms.

Additionally, a "Global Quantum Complex" is being developed on the former Sega Sammy site within Centum City to create a quantum computing hub.
