According to Yonhap News,

On July 29, Busan-si announced that it has finalized its "7th Regional Energy Plan," a regional energy master plan developed every five years.

The 7th plan sets the vision of "Energy Transition with Everyone's Participation, a Green Future for All, BIG Busan," and includes goals related to renewable energy, distributed power sources, energy demand, and greenhouse gases.

In the renewable energy sector, Busan aims for a 13.5% renewable energy electricity self-sufficiency rate by 2030. To achieve this, a total of 74 projects have been established, including 21 supply and 53 demand management projects.

Distributed power sources, which include renewable energy, fuel cell systems, and energy storage systems (ESS), are targeted to see a 274% increase in deployment rate by 2030 compared to 2023.

For greenhouse gases, which are deemed major contributors to global warming, the plan aims to reduce emissions (reduced to 21.64 million tons) by 2030, a decrease of 13.2% from 2022 levels .

Busan-si finalized this regional energy plan after incorporating the opinions of the Energy Policy Committee, which was held on June 25th this year, in accordance with the "City Energy Basic Ordinance."

Busan's Mayor stated, "As the 4th industrial revolution, a key growth driver for Busan’s future, requires substantial energy, we need to make proactive efforts to deploy more renewable energy."
