According to Yonhap News,
[BUSAN = YONHAP NEWS] By Min Young-gyu = A cooperative framework aimed at fostering marine semiconductor technologies and industries will be launched in Busan on January 19.
Busan City, Busan Technopark, and the Busan Institute of Science & Technology and Higher Education Promotion announced on the 7th that they will launch the K-Marine Semiconductor Alliance at Signiel Busan on January 19.
Amid growing discussions on the development of Arctic shipping routes and industries operating in extreme polar environments, the alliance seeks to strategically cultivate marine semiconductor technologies to promote the development of the marine industry and strengthen Busan’s status as Korea’s maritime capital.
To build a marine semiconductor value chain, the alliance will be formed around universities, research institutes, and partner companies. In particular, leading domestic shipbuilding and marine companies, along with semiconductor firms, are expected to participate as anchor companies driving both production and demand.
Busan Technopark has continued related discussions with experts after hosting a forum last August under the theme “The Rise of Marine Semiconductors in the New Maritime Era and Busan’s Response.”
The K-Marine Semiconductor Alliance aims to establish Busan’s leading role as the Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam maritime capital region develops an industrial ecosystem centered on marine electrification, smart ports, marine defense, and marine energy.
To this end, the alliance plans to draw up detailed implementation plans covering new business planning, research and development (R&D), corporate collaboration, workforce training, and domestic and international technology exchanges.
