(BUSAN = Newsis) — Busan's exports have increased for five consecutive months, and its trade balance has recorded a surplus for six straight months.
According to the "July 2026 Busan Regional Import and Export Status" released by the Busan Customs Service on August 18, Busan's exports last month reached USD 1.389 billion, a 6.0 percent increase compared to the same month last year, while imports reached USD 1.271 billion, down 6.6 percent.
Busan's exports have continued to grow for five consecutive months since March (11.5 percent).
By item, exports of electrical and electronic products (47.5 percent), steel products (11.3 percent), and machinery and precision instruments (5.7 percent) increased, whereas exports of ships (-63.7 percent), passenger cars (-44.1 percent), and chemical products (-12.2 percent) saw sharp declines.
By country, exports to the United States (40.1 percent), Southeast Asia (24.4 percent), China (19.9 percent), and Japan (4.3 percent) expanded, while exports to the European Union (-34.3 percent) and Latin America (-15.0 percent) fell.
Busan's trade balance last month posted a surplus of USD 118 million, marking six consecutive months in the black.
Last month, Busan's imports decreased across all categories: consumer goods (-7.7 percent), raw materials (-7.1 percent), and capital goods (-5.0 percent).
