According to Yonhap News,
(Busan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-ho = Busan Metropolitan City held the inaugural meeting of the Busan Startup City Creation Project Task Force on the afternoon of the 21st at City Hall in response to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Startup City Creation Project' open call.
This project is an initiative aimed at pooling regional innovation resources to establish a startup ecosystem tailored to regional characteristics.
The central government aims to establish more than five global top-100 startup cities by 2030.
The task force will be led by Busan City, with the Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation acting as the operating institution, alongside participation from local universities, research institutes, public agencies, investment firms, and enterprises.
Leveraging the resources and expertise of participating organizations, the task force will establish a stage-by-stage support system spanning 'Discovery → Incubation → Expansion.'
Busan has built foundations as a global startup hub by entering the top 70 emerging global startup cities, establishing the Busan Tech Startup Investment Agency, and raising KRW 1.5 trillion (USD 1.13 billion) in startup funds.
Through this project, the city plans to combine its accumulated startup capabilities with Busan's strategic industries to advance a 'Busan-Style Startup City Model.'
