Chungju to Create Korea's Largest Light-themed Park inside the World Martial Arts Park

(CHUNGJU=Yonhap News) The City of Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, announced Feb. 2 it will create the country's largest light-themed tourist park inside the City's World Martial Arts Park.

The City signed an agreement with Lightworld Inc., and plans to spend KRW 45bn on creating the light-themed park, set to operate after dark, on an area of 140,000m²withing the World Martial Arts Park grounds.

Visitors will be able to enjoy various light-emitting objects fueled by eco-friendly solar energy, as well as breathtaking 3D lighting events, 4D experience venues, virtual reality creations, and art installations.

Also planned at the new theme park is a camp culture festival to take place after dark that brings together light, camping, and cultural performances.

The project will be funded entirely through private investments, where investing companies and the City will divide the operating profits.

The City expects the new light-themed park will be of great help in cultivating the overnight tourism industry and vitalize the local economy.
