According to Yonhap News,

Cheongju city broke ground for the construction project to newly establish Ochang Technopark Industry Cluster, which is planned to accommodate South Korea's next-generation synchrotron radiation accelerator.

North Chungcheing Province announced on Jul 31 that a ground breaking ceremony was held at the presence of city and provincial representatives.
The governor of the community delivered a welcoming speech, saying “This is a land of opportunity for the future prosperity of the country. The accelerator which will come to this town would serve as a main growth driver of Korea. The city of Cheongju will make an all-out effort to transform this place into a Korean version of Silicon Valley, which takes the leadership role in the upcoming fourth industrial revolution.”

The construction process to build up the cluster, which spreads across a 1,493,000㎡ site, comes to an end in December 2023, with KRW 224.4 billion worth of investments.
Completing the site renovation process, first of all, the provincial authority puts to an end to the first phase of the project by the end of next year.

Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) has embarked on a feasibility study to substantiate if the project is valid since the beginning of this month.
