North Chungcheong Province’s what’s called “influencer marketing”in the midst of post-COVID-19 lockdowns is being spotlighted.

The provincial government and Cheingju Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted a web-based trade fair at the presence of 21 local businesses and 40 Hong Kong based entrepreneurs to be matched. There was a special corner aired live with three Wanghong (Wanghong translates to online celebrities in Chinese. The term describes social network influencers who get their fans to purchase goods that they’ve endorsed) who showcased products made in Korea.

An influencer is a person who has the power in social network services to affect the purchasing decisions of others (followers) using his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience. Wanghong, in particular, has become a new marketing buzzword as they interact with consumers in real time online.

The show was aired throughout China via one of e-commerce platforms which has over 400 million members, and watched by nearly 4,000 Chinese consumers.

The attendees at the fair struck 43 cases of business deal, worth over USD 1 million .
