According to Yonhap News,

Chungju-si, Chungbuk unveiled on Nov. 25 that the city was chosen in the regeneration of old commercial business district contest organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Accordingly, Chungju is to inject a total of KRW 8 billion - including governmental funding of KRW 4 billion, Provincial funding of KRW 1.2 billion, and city funding of KRW 2.8 billion - into the project for vitalizing old commercial areas.

The city plans to revive 'Chungju's old city with a mixture of memories, taste, and fanciness' by forming a sentimental commercial district, memory-alley commercial districts, Fun commercial district, and a hope commercial district.

In addition, the plan is also devised to attract not only Chungju-si residents but also visitors from out of town.

Chungju City Mayor Cho Gil-hyeong said, "The contest project is a result of the participation of local micro-business owners and experts, as well as the city's aggressive administrative support," adding, "Since the project to revitalize commercial districts is large-scale, we will push forward with establishing and implementing in-depth project plan in a coordinated way."
