According to Yonhap News,

Chungju Mayor Cho Gil-hyeong on Mar. 29 stressed the need for balanced development in the region.

At a press conference, he argued, "Balanced development applies to not only between the metropolitan and the non-metropolitan but also between Osong and other areas in Chungju.

The Mayor also added, "Major or important events center around Osong these days" "It can be likened to a trickle-down effect."

His remarks imply his uneasiness about Chungbuk's growth strategy's focusing on Osong-eup, Cheongju-si. In the meantime, Osong successfully located AI & Bio School for the precocious and was selected as a candidate city for the government's railway cluster national industrial complex. In addition, by 2023, the third bio-science national industrial complex is scheduled to be established on 6,769 square meters of land.

Cho said, "Candidates for the second round of relocating public institutions in the non-metropolitan region are only limited to innovative cities, which is incompatible with the idea of balanced regional development," adding, "Chungju will also put the all-out effort in selecting relocating institutions to Chungju."
